Overview

Jazz Café Montparnasse, nestled in the heart of Paris’s 14th arrondissement, offers an intimate blend of live jazz and refined French dining. Located on Rue du Commandant René Mouchotte, this spot draws not only jazz lovers but also those who appreciate a warm and inviting atmosphere. The venue’s charm lies in its ability to marry music and cuisine seamlessly, creating an experience that is both vibrant and relaxed.

The café specializes in jazz and blues live performances, typically starting late evening and wrapping up around midnight, ensuring guests can savor both the meals and melodies. The music selection leans towards jazz and jazz manouche, carefully curated so the volume enhances rather than overwhelms the dining experience. This considerate sound level fosters an engaging ambiance without sacrificing conversation or the appreciation of food.

The menu reflects classic French cuisine with a modern touch. Starters, mains, and desserts highlight local ingredients and thoughtful preparation. Noteworthy is the Saint Jacques paired with black rice risotto—a dish praised for its balance and depth. The desserts, especially the French macaron with berries and cream, offer a refreshing end to the meal. The three-course menu offers excellent value, delivering quality and generosity that feel fitting for the neighborhood's sophisticated yet approachable vibe.

The service stands out, characterized by attentiveness and friendliness, contributing to a sense of genuine hospitality. While the staff's English proficiency varies, the welcoming nature of the team ensures most guests feel comfortable and cared for. Reservations for dinner are recommended, particularly when enjoying the live sets, but there are options for those seeking just drinks amid the cozy setting, which includes selections of fine wines, champagne, and cocktails.

Jazz Café Montparnasse’s space suits a diverse clientele—from jazz aficionados and couples seeking a romantic night out to small groups wanting a cultural yet lively evening. The venue’s calm and joyful atmosphere supports both relaxed dinners and spirited gatherings, making it a gem for anyone exploring Paris’s vibrant culinary and music scene.

In sum, Jazz Café Montparnasse delivers a rich experience where French gastronomy and evocative jazz rhythms coalesce in a space that feels both authentic and welcoming. It’s a place where every note and bite resonates with care, inviting patrons to immerse themselves fully in the magic of Parisian nights.

Great selection of music and the environment is joyful and cozy. You can have just some drinks but I recommend having the whole experience, enjoying a great French cuisine dinner. Choose your music and your meal and you won't be disappointed.

Restaurant proposes excellent menu with the choice of starters, main dishes and delicious desserts. Menu of three courses costs almost 50 euros and is worth the price ! Saint Jacques with risotto made of black rice is my favorite one . French macaron with berries and cream is really refreshing ! There are regularly concerts in the restaurant (mostly of course jazz and jazz manouche). Groups are perfectly chosen and the music is not too loud like in some other places. You can either have a dinner or take a drink or drinks (large choice of wines , champagne and cocktails). Very good place for a calm and delicious dinner !

Nice bar and nice atmosphere, nice food and drinks. The only negative thing is that the staff is not speaking English - during our visit it was only one guy.

Spent a magical evening here for Valentine’s Day. The 3 course meal was divine with careful attention to detail and they had options for vegetarians and vegans. All the waiters were attentive. The dinner and concert package is a steal! Spectacular music combined with amazing food. Come here hungry or come simply to enjoy the music and order cocktails!

The environment is very cozy and sofisticated. Unusually spacious for Paris standards. It's a good balance of a place where you can eat well, drink, listen to music above average. Friendly staff.
